Vintage Alligator Portfolio Book Cover with Alligator Foot Bookmark

Cool antique book cover made from alligator skin, with an alligator foot bookmark. It is really cool looking in shades of dark and light brown, and looks to have been well made. The bookmark is missing one claw. Cover shows light wear on the spine edges, but what a great book cover! The accompanying letter/provenance states that this cover/portfolio was made by a leather shop from her great grandmother's alligator handbag which was worn too badly to repair as a handbag, and that it was (at that time) about 90 years old (and now it is much older!). It looks like it may have been a Christmas gift for their daughter - a keepsake from her great-great-grandmother. Take a good look at the photos, it is a one-of-a-kind and a great piece for a collection! It measures roughly 7-1/4" x 10". Please see scans.
